It is said that "you don't get a second chance to make a first impression" so I guess I better make a good one. My name is Jean... There are lots of things I do: single mom, photographer, and blogger and none of those are my "day job". Though the "day job" pays the bills, it's my faith in God and love for my son that motivates me to keep persevering every day. I put my full trust in Jesus first and everything else just falls into place. ||
What I Believe ||
There are lots of things I do: single mom, photographer, and blogger and none of those is my "day job". I'm a freelance photographer based out of Honolulu, Hawai'i. I originally started photography by accident when I was given a Canon 7d as a gift. I began to shoot everything, eventually editing a beauty blog and taking product photography exclusively. After a few years of doing nothing but macro shots of makeup, I became quite bored with the monotony of it all. I left that job in lieu of a corporate office job to pay the bills, a job that I still have and affectionately refer to as "the day job".
It wasn't until 6 months had passed without me touching my camera that I was asked to take photos of my then baby niece for her birthday. Although all that time had passed without taking a photo, I instantly felt at home with the camera in my hand. It was at that moment that my love for photography and the passion I once had for it was renewed and I decided that I wanted to take up photography on a freelance basis and began shooting
anything and everything when time allowed. That was over 3 years ago and in the time since, I've grown as a photographer in so many ways.
Living in Hawai'i is truly a blessing because everywhere you look is a postcard worthy image, you just have to know how to capture it. I spend many afternoons and weekends out at the beach or driving around capturing the beauty that O'ahu has to offer. As a photographer, I shoot mostly landscape and astrophotography because I really love looking at all the beauty God created and capturing a mere second of it all to share with the world. I also do portraits, print ads and abstract photography although you won't see much of it on this website because those are more client-based and reflect the client's point of view and not mine. Perhaps in the future I'll share some of it but this space is very personal and intimate to me and I just want to share the photos that I love and that speak to me personally as an artist.
I honestly just capture the beauty that God Himself created and am so richly blessed just to be able to share the view I have from behind the lens with all of you. God's the real artist, the true creator and I give Him all glory and honor because without the beauty He created, I would have no inspiration and nothing to share.
"To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever." {1 Timothy 1:17}
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." {1 Corinthians 10:31}
I believe that there is no perfect photographer, that we each see the world in a different and unique way. Christopher Belme once said "Photography is a great excuse to see things you ordinarily wouldn't." There is so much of the world we live in that people miss in the hustle and bustle of life. I am truly blessed to be able to capture a few perfect moments and share them with the world.
